The number of people who invested in the Moscow Stock Exchange in January increased by 555 thousand and reached 23.5 million. The share of private investors in the trading volume of shares amounted to 80.4%, the most popular securities in their portfolios were Sberbank shares.

The number of people investing in the Moscow Stock Exchange increased by 555 thousand to 23.5 million

The number of individual investors on the Moscow Stock Exchange increased by 555 thousand in January and reached 23.5 million, the site’s press service reported. The number of brokerage accounts opened at the same time increased by 1.2 million to 39.6 million.

Private investors took a share of 80.4% in the volume of trading in shares, 28.5% – in bonds. The share of such investors in trading on the derivatives market was 71.4%, on the spot foreign exchange market – 21.3%.

The most popular securities in the portfolios of private investors in January were ordinary shares of Sberbank (26.6%), shares of Gazprom (22.5%), Lukoil (10.4%). The most sought after ETF was TRUR with investments in stocks, gold, money and bonds with a 20.1% share in the portfolios of private investors.

The total volume of operations on the Moscow Stock Exchange at the end of 2022 amounted to a record 1.1 qdrln rubles. The best dynamics was shown by the grain and sugar market, where the trading volume increased 4.9 times and reached 71.1 billion rubles.
