South Korea’s Samsung will start using recycled plastic in the production of all smartphones. The company also announced its intention to phase out the use of plastic in packaging over the next few years.
By 2050, Samsung intends to use recycled plastic in the production of all of its smartphones. By 2025, the company wants to completely eliminate the use of plastic in the production of packaging materials, according to Yonhap, citing a statement by Samsung Electronics Vice President Park Sung-soon.

Samsung is already using recycled plastic in its Galaxy smartphones. The S23, S23 Plus and S23 Ultra models feature more than 10 recycled plastic components. In particular, in the S23 Ultra, the rear glass and the front casing are partly made from recycled plastic bottles.
In February 2022, Samsung announced the use of recycled fishing nets in the production of its flagship Galaxy S22 smartphones and other devices.
