In 2022, the production of brut on the Russian market increased by 40%. This affected the reduction in the share of semi-sweet sparkling wines. The additional demand for local brut could drive up the price of foreign wines.
During the last year, the range of sparkling wines has expanded by around 140 units, up to 1.1 thousand references. Most of the new products fell into bruts and extra-bruts, the rest into semi-sweet sparkling wines, Kommersant reported.
Ladoga director Veniamin Grabar noted that high-quality sparkling wines are easier to produce than high-quality stills. To get maximum benefits and high volumes at lower costs, winemakers must fill empty niches with sparkling wine.
The total production of sparkling wines in the country, according to Rosalkogolregulirovanie, increased by 25% over last year, to 16.1 million deciliters year on year.
