Roskomnadzor began considering the possibility of blocking the Twitch video streaming service in Russia. To enable this, it is necessary, among other things, to assess the risks for Russian bloggers using the platform, the department noted.

Roskomnadzor considers the total or partial blocking of the Twitch streaming service

Twitch in Russia may be blocked, this possibility is being considered by Roskomnadzor. TASS writes about this with reference to the head of the department of the department, Yevgeny Zaitsev.

Zaitseva announced the need to bring Twitch to more serious responsibility and apply measures to it in the form of a full or partial block in Russia. Such actions need to be addressed when assessing the risks Russian bloggers using the platform may incur, the Roskomnadzor representative explained.

The Safe Internet League advocates limiting the work of Twitch in Russia. The platform represents a threat to the life and health of children, as it becomes a platform for advertising drugstores, the head of the organization believes.

In November 2022, the court seized Twitch property in Russia in the amount of 3 billion rubles due to the blocking of the account of the cyber sportsman Kirill Malofeev. He is the son of the founder of the holding “Tsargrad” Konstantin Malofeev.

Since last July, search engines have been required to flag Twitch as a violation of Russian law.
