Currently, YouTube is testing a new premium feature that will allow users to watch videos in FullHD (1080p) resolution and increased bitrate. In the screenshot above, you can see that only basic 1080p is available for those without a Premium subscription.

YouTube’s move to test a more aggressive monetization strategy comes amid increasing competition from other streaming video services like Netflix and Disney+. It is not yet clear how users will react to the new premium feature and whether this will help YouTube generate more revenue from its platform.
