The new study involved 172,000 people. More than 8,000 people died during the observation period, of which more than 2,000 died from cardiovascular disease, 2,000 from cancer, and 4,000 from other causes. Scientists have concluded that about 8% of deaths from any cause can be attributed to insufficient sleep.
The researchers also named five important sleep-related habits. This:
- seven to eight hours of sleep per day,
- withdrawal from sleeping pills
- Try not to have trouble falling asleep more than twice a week.
- try not to have sleep problems more than twice a week,
- Get enough sleep at least five times a week.
“If people have all these habits, they are more likely to live longer,” the scientists added.
