Russians’ spending on rent during the February holidays increased by a third: study

This year, Russian tourists spent 32% more on rental housing than last year. The average cost of a trip has increased from 6,561 rubles to 8,717 rubles.

Guests from Nizhny Novgorod experienced the most significant increase in spending, where the average rent increased by 153% to 11,419 rubles. In Kazan, spending increased by 151% to 10,155 rubles. A trip to Yaroslavl turned out to be 124% more expensive, the average rental was 9318 rubles.

In St. Petersburg, rental expenses increased by 104%, and the average amount was 10,829. In Tula, rental expenses increased by 84%, to 8,017 rubles. Trips to Sheregesh also became more expensive, Russians spending 92% more than a year earlier.

Visitors to Veliky Novgorod paid 79% more this year. The cost of rent for the February holidays amounted to 7,701 rubles. To stay in the capital, Russians paid an average of 12,367 rubles, 75% more than last year.

At the same time, the cost of a trip to Sochi did not increase so significantly – only by 40%. However, on average, rental housing in the resort town costs almost 25 thousand rubles.

In Sheregesh, tourists rested on average four days, in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod – three days, in other cities the average duration of the trip was two days.

“In general, the number of reservations for our service has increased tenfold compared to last year’s holidays. First of all, this is due to the departure of Western services from Russia, but also this year much more people went on vacation trips, ”says Yury Kuznetsov, owner and CEO of Sutochno.ru.

According to YuKassa analysts, from February 23 to 26, 2023, the turnover of hotel reservation services increased by 25% compared to the holiday weekend of 2022 (February 20-23).

The number of paid hotels during the February 2023 holidays was 2.4 times more than in 2022.
