41 million records were sold in 2022, compared to 33 million CDs. Analysts noted that record sales have increased steadily over the past 16 years. They currently account for 71% of all revenue from the sale of physical music media.

The RIAA isn’t the first to claim that record outperforms CD. Earlier this year, the Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA) reported the same trend in the UK.
