The drug consists of nanoparticles containing extract of pigweed Sosnowski. The technique involves intravenous administration of the substance, which then passes through the bloodstream in the form of a liposomal solution.

The tumor is then irradiated with ultraviolet light, which activates the biologically active compounds of the drug, known as furanocoumarins, found in wormwood. These compounds bind irreversibly to the DNA of tumor cells, causing them to lose their ability to divide.

As a result, cancer cells self-destruct. In addition, liposomes, through which the drug penetrates the tissues, accumulate better in tumors, making it possible to increase the effectiveness of drug therapy.

According to scientists, it reduces side effects and negative effects on healthy cells by acting purposefully for their development. They stated that the technology they created will enable the treatment of basilioma and melanoma, as well as colon and bladder cancer.
