Previously, it was assumed that Apple will act as usual – not against the law and government pressure, but to introduce its own rules regarding the use of gadgets and accessories. But it seems that the company will not be able to do this.

It is unlikely that Apple will be able to implement special chips to limit the compatibility of non-genuine fast charging cables in accordance with the Made for iPhone standard. Apple will have to stick to a single standard for chargers and cables, as this practice is a direct violation of the law. It will be possible to use all kinds of cables that comply with the technical regulations as per the law.

This is stated directly in the text of the new European law. According to the document, all devices equipped with USB-C must support the USB Power Delivery charging protocol when exceeding 5 V voltage, 3 A current or 15 W power. Current iPhone models support stronger storage, which means it’s impossible for Apple to bypass these rules and impose their own restrictions.

It is also assumed that incorporating fast charging technology will avoid unreasonable limitation of charging speed by different vendors and will provide the same charging speed when using any compatible memory.
