Vancouver resident Rajesh Randev accidentally stole a Tesla Model 3 using an app on his own smartphone. This story was told by Global News.
The incident came to a head on Tuesday when Randev was on his way to pick up the kids at school. There were two white Tesla Model 3s in the parking lot. One car was watching Rendezvous, and the other was watching an unknown person.
Approaching the car, the man opened it through the Tesla app and drove to the school.
Randev realized that he was not in his car when he noticed a crack in the windshield. Also charging for the smartphone is in an unusual place.
I was able to gain access to the man’s car, but when I began to operate the operation, I saw a crack in the windshield.
Rajesh Rendezvous
About 10 minutes after the start of the trip, Rendezvous received a message from the owner of the electric car, who said that the man was not driving his car.
Rendezvous is the bad owner of the Model 3 and they arranged to meet to trade cars after the man picked up the kids from school.
In total, Randev drove someone else’s car for an hour and a half. The real owner of the Model 3 is Randev’s phone number from a sign that was found under the windshield of his car.
Why Randev was able to open someone else’s Tesla with his app is unclear. The man is made by Tesla and there is international video evidence that this is possible, but the company has not yet contacted him. [Global News]
