Experts from Charles University in Prague and the Czech Academy of Sciences followed 4,253 people living in the Czech Republic for three years. All of these people participated in the survey in 2018, 2019 and 2020. In addition, as part of this study, social jet lag, that is, situations where the body’s natural biological rhythm conflicts with work and social conditions are discussed. For example, if you go to bed late on the weekends and wake up late, but not on weekdays, this can happen.
The team of scientists found that participants’ sleep quality was associated with happiness and health. At the same time, stress at work has been associated with jet lag.
But in general, according to scientists, sleep duration and the difference in sleep between weekends and work days are not as important to quality of life as a good night’s sleep. However, it is not yet clear whether poor sleep reduces quality of life or whether poor quality of life contributes to poor sleep.
The results of the research were published in Plos One.
