The Google Project Zero team has discovered 18 zero-day vulnerabilities in various Samsung modems.

Four of them allow hackers to remotely run virus code, just the victim’s phone number. Only experienced hackers and with additional research.

The remaining 14 hacking vulnerabilities require either local access to devices or illegal actions on the part of the operator.

Problems are found in Exynos Modem 5123, Exynos Modem 5300, Exynos 980, Exynos 1080 and Exynos Auto T5123 modems. They were installed in various devices and cars:

▪️ Samsung Galaxy S22, M33, M13, M12, A71, A53, A33, A21, A13, A12 and A04 series smartphones
▪️ Vivo S16, S15, S6, X70, X60 and X30 series smartphones
▪️ Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7 and 7 Pro
▪️ Wearable devices using Exynos W920 modem
▪️ Cars with Exynos Auto T5123 modem

Samsung hasn’t fixed the problems with the modems yet. Google will release a March security update for Pixel 6, 6 Pro and 6a, which will fix some of the vulnerabilities. [The Verge]
