The authors of the new paper reviewed 85 studies that looked at sugary drink consumption and weight gain in adults and children over the past decade. It turned out that each increase in a daily serving of sugary drinks was associated with an increase of almost half a kilogram in adult body weight.

It’s worth remembering that being overweight or obese increases your risk of a number of health problems, including diabetes, heart disease, and certain types of cancer. An average 330ml serving of sweetened soda contains more than eight teaspoons of sugar, the experts recommend limit for added sugar throughout the day.
