ChatGPT was overloaded, out of balance and even went offline this Monday afternoon (20). More than 10,000 complaints of instability were registered on the Downdetector website between 13:30 and 15:00 Brazilian time.
The OpenAI website even showed an official message announcing what happened. The chatbot platform did not crash, but it was not possible to send a request for information for a period of 3 hours 54 minutes, according to the company.
The interruption of services also affected the artificial intelligence (AI) rendering model Dall-E, which stopped working for 2 hours and 40 minutes. APIs also experienced instabilities, but they did not fall. Services are limited to 30 minutes.
According to official information, OpenAI detected the problem but did not explain the cause of the instabilities. The company says it’s “gradually rolling out a fix that users will receive as capacity allows.” But until now the web platform was not available for Brazilian users.
user explosion
ChatGPT was an instant success, reaching over 100 million users in just two months after its launch. The natural language model works for free, but there are limitations on the number of hits and the chatbot’s responsiveness. To get rid of the restrictions, the user has to pay a monthly subscription of R$105.
AI technology has also been integrated into Microsoft’s search service, which has been renamed New Bing. Chatbot has also released its API integration for independent developers. The latest version of the tool has expanded its data processing base and is also able to analyze images.
Despite issues with free services on the ChatGPT webpage, no tool outages have been reported for paid subscribers or by Bing.
