NSPK set a limit for transactions without a PIN code for payment tags at the level of 3 thousand rubles, as for a contactless card. It will protect against cancellation of a large amount of the label if the payment label is lost.
The tag must also be blocked in the bank’s mobile application or contact the bank, Izvestia reported with reference to the NSPK.
At the same time, acquiring banks can set a lower payment limit without a PIN code, within the amount provided by the payment system, the publication’s interlocutors added.
- Since the end of 2022, a new tool has appeared on the Russian market to replace the non-working mobile payment system Apple Pay – a payment tag. First launch in December 2022 inserted Tinkoff. The tag is attached to a smartphone or case and has contactless payment functionality.
- According to NSPK, as of early March 2023, 16 Russian banks are already issuing or testing payment tags. Dom.RF, Rosbank and Expobank plan to launch their payment tags at the end of August 2023.
