There were another 1.8 thousand ATMs and active growth was recorded this quarter. By the end of 2022, the total number of ATMs across Russia was 173.5 thousand.

Earlier it was noted that the number of ATMs decreased: in two years it fell by 11% or 22 thousand units.

The increase in the number of new ATMs is explained by sanctions and the departure of American manufacturers of this equipment from Russia. American companies NCR and Diebold Nixdorf broke up in the spring of 2022, and about 60% of ATMs operating throughout Russia were produced by them. Now banks are abandoning American equipment in favor of China and Korea. One of the reasons for the quick replacement is the need to install ATMs with a new 100-ruble banknote.
