According to eight current and former Apple employees who spoke to The New York Times, the company’s initial enthusiasm for the device turned into skepticism. Launches of other Apple products have never been accompanied by this level of anxiety.

Many employees are seriously concerned about the device’s $3,000 price, its usefulness, and the risks to the market. Some Apple employees allegedly left the project due to doubts about its potential, while others were laid off due to lack of progress in some features of the device, including Siri support.

It was previously reported that Tim Cook insisted on an early release of the headset.
