Since March 2022, in Russian cities with one million inhabitants, on average, the communication stores of operators have decreased by 5.5%. The drop is especially noticeable in Omsk – by almost 15%, Moscow, Rostov-on-Don and Nizhny Novgorod – by 7%. The trend is associated with a decrease in the income of the population and the optimization of the operators’ budget, Kommersant learned.

In large Russian cities with a population of one million, the number of communication salons has decreased.

The reorganization of communication stores began during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, then their number decreased by 15% in a year, and a year later – by another 3%, said Denis Kuskov, director of TecomDaily.

According to him, now, against the background of a decline in purchasing power and a general drop in sales, it is not profitable to have a large number of outlets, so the trend will continue in 2023.

Anton Fomin, a business analyst at F + tech – Marvel, believes that after a while, communication shops will be open again, as full-service operators provide access to cellular communications, one of the components of which is a telephone. intelligent.

  • In February, the speed of mobile Internet in Russia decreased by 7%. At TelecomDaily, the decrease in speed is explained by the fact that last spring Western companies stopped supplying network equipment to the Russian Federation. Another reason was that the operators are focused on installing their stations mainly in large cities with a potentially large coverage of users.
