The scientists took a DNA sequence from a mammoth muscle protein and inserted part of the genome of a modern elephant. This array was then inserted into sheep myoblast stem cells. They were replicated to grow the 20 billion cells used to grow mammoth meat.
But experts are afraid to eat it. The fact is that the human immune system can react to the ancient protein in an unpredictable way.
