Only one time zone across China today is UTC+8. How was it? After all, the country is as big as ours or the United States.

Between 1912 and 1949, China had five time zones. That changed in 1949, when Mao Zedong came to power. He became the founder of the People’s Republic of China. As a result, the Communist Party of China became the leader of the country, and a common time was established throughout the country – Beijing. And this is UTC+8. According to this time zone in Russia, they live in Irkutsk.

There were several reasons for the transition to common time in China. This is the unification of the inhabitants of the country, the convenience of the government and connections with the regions, the speed of news dissemination, the absence of confusion in the transport schedule, as well as events occurring all over the country.
