The Ostankino District Court of Moscow ordered the closure of the Burger King restaurant in Moscow for 45 days after three cases of gastroenteritis were reported. The restaurant belongs to Burger Rus LLC, which is developing a network of American Burger King franchises. The court found it necessary to conceal the exact address of the restaurant.
Rospotrebnadzor received information about three sick people from the AIS system “ORUIB” on April 18, after which they decided to thoroughly inspect the restaurant.
The inspection showed that the establishment violated health regulations. The chops and shrimp were not labeled, so their expiration date was not determined. People were allowed to work without information about hepatitis A, Sonne dysentery and rubella vaccines, and one employee did not have a staph test. In the restaurant’s warehouse, barrels of Báltika beer were stored along with open disinfectants, which could cause toxic poisoning in visitors. The establishment was also found to have rusty doors, clutter, untimely garbage collection and dirty cleaning equipment. Inspectors were especially outraged by the staff bathroom, where “biological deposits” were found.
The representative of Burger Rus admitted his guilt during the court hearing. RB.RU has requested an official comment.
Rospotrebnadzor closed the Burger King restaurant immediately after acute gastroenteritis was detected among visitors, specifically on April 19, considering the establishment to be dangerous. The judge decided to count the specified period against the 45-day suspension period. Thus, the establishment will resume its work next week.
Burger Rus’ revenue in 2023 increased by 8% to 74.5 billion rubles, net profit for the year decreased from 2.4 billion rubles to 1.8 billion rubles. According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, 99.84% of the LLC belongs to the Cypriot Burger King Russia.
