The number of investors on the Moscow Stock Exchange in March increased by 522 thousand people, the site reported. The number of open brokerage accounts increased by 983 thousand to 41.4 million.

The number of people with brokerage accounts on the Moscow Stock Exchange reached 24.5 million in March, having increased by 522.7 thousand during the month, according to a press release from the site.

The share of private investors in the volume of transactions in shares at the end of the month amounted to 79.7%, bonds – 32.8%, transactions on the futures market – 63.8%, the Moscow Stock Exchange reported.

The most popular securities among private investors in March were ordinary shares of Sberbank (31.9%), Gazprom (20.6%), Lukoil (9.5%).

In February, the number of investors on the Moscow Stock Exchange increased by 517,000 people.

In March, the Bank of Russia, the Moscow Stock Exchange and market participants began discussing additional measures to counter abnormal price changes of third-tier shares. One of the measures is the introduction of discrete auctions for all shares with a significant price deviation.
