It was previously reported that the iPhone 15 Pro will feature solid-state volume buttons with haptic feedback, but analyst Jeff Pu now says Apple may return to the classic volume button design on the device. Pu heard from sources familiar with Apple’s supply chain that the new buttons would require three new haptic engines inside the iPhone, making the design very complex.

Reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also recently confirmed this report, saying that moving away from solid-state buttons will ease the development and testing process for Apple and will not affect the iPhone 15 launch schedule.

Instead, the new touch buttons could be ported to 2024 iPhone models to give Apple more time to build the necessary parts.
