The Venera-D mission includes a lander and an orbiter, and the preliminary design of the space complex is under development.

The project was originally planned as a joint mission with the United States. However, in April 2022, Roskosmos announced that the mission could be postponed indefinitely and only Russian specialists would participate in its development.

The purpose of “Venera-D” is to study Venus’ atmosphere, climate and geology, as well as its potential suitability for any life form.
