With the release of iOS 16, Apple introduced the series widget for a lock screen that promised to change the way we used our iPhone. A few months later, as we approach iOS 17, developers don’t seem to have put much effort into integrating their apps with this feature. Today, however, Spotify becomes one of the few big companies to adopt itand here’s what it looks like.

Now that you have installed widget on the lock screen of your iPhone, you can select one from Spotify to have direct access to the app. Thus, the process of unlocking the mobile phone, swiping between all the apps and touching the streaming music service icon is shortened. A more than useful feature for those who use the app on a daily basis.

Certainly, you need iOS 16 and above to use this feature. While it’s not a drastic change like the recent redesign Spotify received that users didn’t like at all, it’s an improvement in the app’s usefulness.

The music service had a rough start to the year

Spotify

Until now, Spotify seemed to rule the music industry. However, some of your decisions make you look a little bad in front of your users. One of them is a TikTok-inspired redesign that seems to point to a future full of videos on the app.

Also, after years of claims, a lossless HiFi version of Spotify still doesn’t exist. The last we heard is that Gustav Söderström, co-president of the company, assured that the project is still ongoing. Nevertheless, we don’t have an official date yetwhile competitors like Apple Music have long since updated their entire catalog for lossless audio, Dolby Atmos spatial audio, and even karaoke mode.
