Chinese conglomerate DiDi has unveiled the concept of an unmanned electric taxi with a robotic arm that will slide out of the trunk and help passengers load luggage. In developing the Didi Neuron, the company collaborated with several manufacturers of electric vehicles.
DiDi unveiled the Didi Neuron unmanned electric taxi prototype in Shanghai, Bloomberg writes.
The electric car does not provide a place for the driver, it is completely autonomous. For orientation on the ground, eight video cameras placed on the body will be in charge. Three screens will be installed at the front of the electric car and two at the rear.
A robotic arm will extend from the trunk of the Didi Neuron, which DiDi says will help passengers load luggage.
“We have already made long-term preparations for our development work on autonomous driving, both mentally and in terms of resources,” said Zhang Bo, DiDi’s chief technology officer.
DiDi expects the Didi Neuron to be in its park by 2025.
