Force Group has developed the Ora2PgCopy Java utility to transfer data from Oracle to PostgreSQL. 10TB can be transferred from one database to another in just one day. Without using the utility, this process would take 100 hours or more.
PostgreSQL’s capabilities, multi-threading, as well as parallel transfer of data for each individual table and special processing of data as BLOBs and CLOBs helped shorten the process, the company said.
The Ora2PgCopy utility is used during the migration process when the tables have already been created in PostgreSQL and the program code has been migrated. Ora2PgCopy can work as a module within the LUI4ORA2PG migration automation system (developed by Force Telecom for migration automation) or be used independently.
The company claims that according to test results, Ora2PgCopy works faster than other analogues, such as Ispirer (convertum), Oracle_fdw, ora2pg and Pentaho kettle.
