The company “Transport of the Future” acquired assets in the special economic zone (SEZ) “Togliatti” for the mass production of cargo drones. This was reported to RB.RU in the press service of the company. Over the next three years, it is planned to invest more than 6 billion rubles in the project.

The first plant for the serial production of cargo drones will be built in Russia

For the construction of the first plant in the Russian Federation for the development of cargo drones, Transport of the Future acquired a piece of land of more than 40 thousand square meters. M. In Togliatti, it is planned to mass-produce seven modifications of UAS (unmanned aerial systems), as well as conduct flight tests.

According to calculations, in 2024 these capacities will produce more than 3,000 devices per year. These are heavy payload devices and more compact drones weighing up to 30kg. The first work on the facility is scheduled for the current month.

“The company plans not only to assemble the UAS in Tolyatti, but also to produce all the key structural elements of the UAS: propellers, engines, controllers, body parts, avionics, etc.,” the Transport of the Future shared its plans.

Previously, 3 billion rubles were invested in the development of existing UAS models and the infrastructure of the project. It is planned to allocate another 6 billion rubles in the next three years.

According to the General Director of Transport of the Future, Yuriy Kozarenko, this project will not only attract funds to the region, but will also create more than 500 new jobs.

Today, the model range of the “Transport of the Future” is represented by two modifications: an air taxi and a large cargo UAS with a take-off weight of up to 700 kg. The “Transportation of the Future” aircraft systems are designed to carry passengers and cargo to hard-to-reach places, help in emergency situations, monitor and cultivate agricultural fields.

The field of UAVs has become increasingly relevant recently. In March, the Albatross company received registration in Alabuga SEZ and moved production to Tatarstan. The drone manufacturer announced an investment of 100 million of its own funds to open a second line.

As the popularity of UAVs grows, so does the means of protection against them. The day before, Kaspersky Lab presented a portable device for detecting commercial drones.
