The head of the Ministry of Finance announced the timing of the launch of the digital ruble; according to Anton Siluanov, it will be put into circulation before the end of 2023. The Central Bank was supposed to start testing the coin in April, but postponed the process due to the unavailability of the legislative framework.
The digital ruble will go into circulation at the end of 2023, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said.
According to the Minister of Finance, the Bank of Russia has already launched an experiment with the proof of the digital ruble and will be ready to put it into circulation in 2023 after the creation of the necessary legislative framework.
The digital ruble bill passed the first reading in the State Duma on March 16.
The Bank of Russia began testing the digital ruble in February 2022. Transfers in digital rubles between citizens were successful.
In February 2023, the Central Bank announced that it would start testing the digital ruble on individuals in April, but postponed these plans due to unavailability of relevant laws.
