The dealership Avtodom announced the closing of an agreement to buy the Russian business of Mercedes-Benz.
Earlier, the media drew attention to changes in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, which indicated the acquisition of these assets by Avtodom. The deal included, among other things, a car manufacturer’s plant in the Moscow region with a production capacity of up to 30,000 cars per year.
The dealer has now officially confirmed the purchase.
“On April 25, 2023, the Avtodom group of companies announced the closing of an agreement to acquire the Russian assets of Mercedes-Benz,” the dealer said in a statement cited by TASS.
According to the press service, the dealership received shares and shares of the Mercedes-Benz company in Russian subsidiaries, including the official dealer Mercedes-Benz Rus, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Rus (a plant in the Moscow region), Mercedes-Benz Bank Rus”, “Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Rus” (leasing “daughter”), as well as “Mercedes-Benz Capital Rus” (engaging in leasing, factoring and auto insurance).
In addition, Avtodom acquired the right to carry out warranty support for cars of this brand. The dealer will also appoint a technology partner to the Mercedes plant shortly.
“Today everyone is worried about what will happen to the plant. In the near future, we will be able to name our technology partner and share plans for the resumption of production. The most important factor for us is the preservation of employees’ jobs,” said Andrey Olkhovsky, CEO of Avtodom Group of Companies.
As the Ministry of Industry and Trade added, active work is underway today to attract partners to restart production at the site in Esipovo.
Previously, the St. Petersburg plant of the automaker Toyota became the property of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise NAMI, subordinate to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
