Joe Kiani, founder of Masimo Corp, talked about his experience working with Apple. His company develops devices for measuring oxygen levels. And at the time, Kiani thought the tech was perfect for the Apple Watch.
However, after meeting with Apple, the latter began to kidnap Masimo Corp employees by offering to double their salaries. In 2019, Cupertino filed patents for sensors similar to those developed by Masimo. The following year, the company released a watch with the function of measuring oxygen in the blood.
Kiani and other representatives of small companies say that Apple initially discussed a possible partnership or integration of technologies, but then the negotiations stalled and the giant offered similar products.
In return, Apple Corporation declares that it does not steal technology and that it respects the intellectual property rights of other companies.
However, these allegations against Apple gave rise to the term “sherlocking”. The US Department of Justice is reportedly currently investigating what happened.
