While the prognosis for recovery from testicular tumors is generally good, scientists continue to explore possible risk factors. During the study, the experts reviewed the medical records of men with germ cell tumors in Sweden from 1992 to 2014.

It includes data from 6166 patients, of which 3575 were diagnosed with seminoma and 2591 with other germ cell tumors.

The results showed that psychiatric disorders did not affect the risk of developing tumors, but increased the risk of all-cause death in men with tumors.

However, the analysis revealed an association between neurodevelopmental disorders and an increased risk of seminoma. On average, the risk increased by 54%. Also, a history of psychotic disorder is associated with a 38% reduction in the risk of developing seminoma.
