The founder of the Amedia film company, Alexander Akopov, resigned from the board of directors of the Amediateka online cinema, writes RBC with reference to the accounts of the main legal entity of the service, A Series LLC. It happened in the fall, on November 22, 2022.
Since November 23, Akopov has been the general director of the STS television channel and deputy general director of the National Media Group (NMG). In February 2023, the producer was placed on the EU sanctions list.
The Board of Directors continues to include the head of Access Industries, the British and American businessman Leonard Blavatnik and the main managers of Access Industries: Sergey Karpukhovich, Anatoly Akimenko and Alexander Shenkman.
Having left the board of directors, Akopov will also cease to be a co-owner of Amediateka, says the publication’s source, a senior manager of the company in the media market.
According to data from the Unified State Registry of Legal Entities, 100% of Series A is owned by AM TV LLC. The main owner of AM TV LLC is KS Capital LLC, owned by Ksenia Sokolskaya.
Previously, the media called the citizen of the Russian Federation Sokolskaya a Blavatnik confidant. In 2016, A Series was forced to change its ownership structure due to a law limiting foreign media ownership to 20%.
Akopov owned 16.7% of the service through AA Media Invest LLC. However, at the end of last year, the structure got a new owner – Vladimir Kirsanov.
Amediateka, unlike other Russian online cinemas, made a profit in 2022. Thus, the net profit of A Series LLC increased by 37.1% and reached 970.7 million rubles with a turnover of 4.78 billion rubles (+ 39.4% year-on-year).
