At least 25% of all collisions of municipal buses with other vehicles, street poles, advertising and stop structures, roadside cafes are caused by side mirrors, which are a fairly large part of buses. It is very difficult for buses to maneuver on the narrow roads of the city.
In this regard, the department decided to replace the side mirrors with video cameras. This has been calculated to be less expensive than regular litigation, compensation negotiation, and downtime. In total, this is about 1800 collisions per year.
