Hinton, whose work is at the heart of today’s productive AI systems, fears that the tech industry’s pressure on AI-based products could have dangerous consequences.

This “thrust for the new” can both spread misinformation, cause job losses and even threaten humanity.

The expert emphasized that the active cooperation of leading scientists in the field of artificial intelligence can prevent this from getting out of control. He also expressed concerns that technology could reshape the labor market, complementing people first and then replacing them in mundane jobs.

Despite criticism of his departure from Google, Hinton made his point clear by tweeting: “I left Google to be able to talk about the dangers of artificial intelligence without caring about how it would affect Google. Google has acted very responsibly.”
