AMD unveiled its Ryzen Z1 and Z1 Extreme processors this Tuesday (25). The new series promises high performance for portable video games. like the recently announced Asus ROG Ally. Also, the CPUs provide good battery life and graphics based on AMD RDNA 3 architecture.

The first devices with chips will be made in partnership with Asus. The ROG Ally gaming laptop will get the Ryzen Z1 Extreme. “Ryzen Z1 processors provide gamers with a premium gaming experience and exceptional portability in exciting game formats,” said Jason Banta, AMD Corporate Vice President and General Manager, Customer OEM.

The Ryzen Z1 Extreme model has 8 Zen 4 CPU cores and 12 RDNA 3 graphics cores and 16 threads. It also offers 24MB cache and raw graphics performance up to 8.6 teraflops. The Ryzen Z1 version has 6 cores and 12 threads in addition to 22MB of cache.

The processors even support USB 4 providing faster and easier connection to the latest external devices. They are compatible with Windows 11 and other operating systems. However, only on May 11, AMD will announce availability and price.

“Having a great gaming experience doesn’t mean you have to be chained to a chair or charger. “We’re working with AMD to deliver the power, visuals and efficiency needed to deliver a superior portable gaming experience with the new Ryzen Z1 Series processors,” said Shawn Yen, Director of Product Management for the Gaming Business Unit at Asus.
