I bought an Android smartphone in the style of an iPhone, Nothing Phone (1), I plan to use it “on a permanent basis” and write a review if I don’t get tired of it earlier. It took a couple of days to get used to, install the necessary software and various little things.
But I am not writing about this. How many times I notice that Apple was rarely seen in the application of the Apple Music service for Android OS from Google.
It got to the point that the version of the Apple service from the “enemy” premises today is not only convenient, but also more functional than it is built into all “apple” operating systems.
Sounds crazy, I wouldn’t believe it myself, but the facts speak for themselves.
1. Only on Android in AM there is a fading of tracks
The function is completely absent in iOS, but a hotspot is available in the Apple Music app for Android.
Track fades create a smooth transition between the ending and next song instead of a constant second of silence. I love it. Yes, and not for me alone, searching the Internet for complete questions of “switchers” from Android to iOS, questions – and where, in fact, is the function that they have already gotten used to.
It is completely incomprehensible why Cupertino believes that this is only necessary for Android users, but by no means iOS. If there is a bypass of logic, write plz astray. I don’t see it on point.
2. There is a full-fledged equalizer that iOS does not have
From the Apple Music apps on Android, you can open a full five-band manual equalizer. But the essence of this does not change.
The fact that Apple has provided Apple Music with quick access to this built-in system feature on Android, but has not yet added anything in common to iOS, is a strange case. Yes, this is not specifically Apple Music as a service’s fault. But, again, why not add this capability to users?
We will not remember about the alternative on iOS with fine-tuning the sound of certain frequencies through Universal Access. It’s not exactly the same. Apple wants to specifically credit the user for finding it.
3. The desktop widget on Android is full-fledged, with control
Image reference Apple Music widget for iOS. In it, you can only see what is happening now. There is an alternative version of it that allows you to quickly display recommended tracks from the proposed systems. But to manage specific consequences, there is pause or watch your own track, with the iOS home screen it is forbidden.
On the left in the picture is the same, but in Android. Normal wave control. Same informative. Who is guilty? That’s right, weird iOS restrictions on widget functionality.
And yes, Android also has AM music controls with a lock screen. In this regard, it does not lose iOS in any way.
4. Lossless quality of tracks in wireless headphones is available on Android
Apple Music today is the king among streaming services in terms of the number of tracks in high quality. The vast majority of albums have changed to at least 24-bit/48kHz (lossless mode).
But AirPods of any model reproduce this quality of inaccessibility. There is no suitable codec either in them or in iOS. Therefore, the owners of “pods” listen to Lossless in a “shrunk” form, adapted to the old AAC codec.
But the world hasn’t hit a wedge on AirPods and iOS. Wireless headphones over the past three years have overcome the barrier of codec quality. Today, buying “gags” with LDAC support from Sony is a matter of six thousand rubles. Qualcomm, Huawei, Xiaomi also develop their own codecs, testing them in good conditions to hear the same “lossless” that AirPods with AAC are losing. And all this is only available on Android.
If you have good, modern wireless headphones, then only on Android you have heard a colossal feature of the sound of the same Apple Music track as Lossless. iPhone owners can buy at least “plugs” for 100 thousand rubles with a quantum computer inside, but they still won’t get anything higher than AAC and standard streaming quality.
The difference between AirPods with AAC and some Sony WF-1000XM4 in LDAC mode is just huge, you need to hear it once. Or is it better not to feel, otherwise it will be insulting.
As usual, we expect improvements in iOS 17
I think you’ve already noticed that the biggest weaknesses of using Apple Music on iOS are exclusively on iOS. Service with all the facets and “features” of the Apple operating system. Your iPhone music would love to sound better and be easier to control, but… alas.
There are rumors that iOS 17 is planned to “improve Apple Music”. Personally, I hope that the improvement there is not the application itself, but iOS. For Apple, which has made a revolution in digital music, now does not use the pace of development not only of the development itself, but even of its own service.
In the meantime, I’m listening to my library in Apple Music exclusively on Android and I’m happy with everything.
