Experts from the University of Turku and the Karolinska Institute conducted a study of 28 patients diagnosed with lymphoma or breast cancer.

Participants were asked to complete a ten-minute bike ride and then examined changes in their blood.

It turned out that the number of cancer-fighting immune cells increased during exercise in patients with lymphoma. Sports also caused an increase in these types of cells in breast cancer patients.

But these changes were temporary – in most patients, the “immune level” returned to normal 30 minutes after the end of the classes. But the more patients exercised, the more immune cells appeared in the bloodstream.

This discovery confirms the importance of exercise for health. Scientists recommend 10 minutes of light to moderate-intensity exercise to stimulate the immune system to fight cancer.
