Microsoft Teams chat, file exchange and video conferencing platform is officially added to the operating systems digital store Windows 10 and Windows 11. From now on, just open the platform app and search for the program to download and start using it on a new computer.

Despite being one of Microsoft’s current darlings, especially after the covid-19 pandemic and the start of home office activities and distance learning, Teams was only available to download from a link on the Microsoft website – and you’ll need to access or search the search engines. .

In addition to this mode, other alternatives were a pre-installed version limited to direct use of the browser or, in the case of Windows 11, personal accounts.

Why now?

However, Microsoft was concerned about security issues. Fake pages that mimic the brand’s interface and suggest downloading a fake Teams can trick the user into running malware or placing access credentials in unsafe environments.

The Windows Store tool is exactly the same as normally downloaded and used on the platform. New functionality is expected in the near future as Teams completes its five-year lifespan in March 2022 and Windows 11 adoption grows.

So far, the company has not disclosed why it is now integrating the service into its official store.
