Knowing part of the catalog of games that will accompany new playstation plus With its launch, we now know one more detail that will surely be welcomed with open arms by the service’s subscribers. And that’s what Sony will introduce trophies to some classic games. Without a doubt, this is a great way to encourage players to return to retro games.
At the moment, yes, the only confirmed game is a cult one Siphon filter. Bend Studios, the team responsible for its development, confirmed this title will cover trophies thanks to the new PlayStation Plus.
“Information from the agency says that Siphon Filter will include trophies when it appears on the new PlayStation Plus.”
While we don’t know what others will be added to the offer, at least it’s clear that there’s support for this type of reward for classic games. Taking into account that PS1 titles are very few in the updated service —at this point—one would expect at least the vast majority of them to have trophies.
Here are the PS1 games you’ll find from day one:
- monkey escape (Japanese studio)
- Hot Shots Golf (Japanese studio)
- IQ IntelligentQube (Japanese studio)
- Jump Flash! (Japanese studio)
- Siphon filter (BendStudio)
- Mr Driller (Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc.)
- Tekken-2 (Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc.)
- World Worms Party (Team 17)
- armageddon worms (Team 17)
New PlayStation Plus too will improve the performance of some games. In particular, its refresh rate (frames per second) and resolution will be increased. In addition, new save options will be introduced, such as the ability to save your progress at any time or return to a previous save point.
These are certainly good additions, but the communication strategy that Sony is following with the PlayStation Plus update is still surprising. Since its official presentation, information has been released with the dropper, and all indications are that we will remain so until the very launch. Most are starting to suspect that we’ll need to get our hands on every game to discover what’s new; either in terms of performance or the trophy system.
