The Japanese game console developer Nintendo is forced to maintain its presence in Russia until the end of 2025, according to the annual reports of Nintendo ru LLC. The “minimum presence” is associated with the need to fulfill obligations to buyers for warranty service and repair of goods.
“[Дочерняя] the organization foresees that the minimum activity regime will be in force until at least the end of 2025, including due to the company’s obligations to customers for warranty service and repair of goods, ”TASS says, citing the document.
The Russian division of the company plans to make adequate preparations for the transition to the minimum activity regime at the end of the first half of 2023.
The declared hibernation implies the termination of contracts with suppliers and buyers, reduction of personnel, but the continuation of all actions necessary for warranty obligations.
It is also known that the Russian legal entity Nintendo has written off a number of its assets, including fixed assets (6.1 million rubles), advertising materials and property (21.7 million rubles), which are now subject to disposal due to to “unsuitability for further sale.”
Currently, the company’s products in Russia are supplied through a parallel import scheme, since official sales were suspended in March 2022.
