YouTube channel host Jarrod’sTech compared MSI GP66 (with RTX 3060) and MSI GP77 (with RTX 4060) laptops in games. Also in the GP66 model is the i7-12700H processor with 16 GB DDR5-4800 CL40, in the GP77 – i7-13700H with 16 GB DDR5-5200 CL42. Both laptops are running Windows 11.
In The Witcher 3 with RT Tuning Preset and DX 12, the average performance at 1440p was nearly the same in both cases: around 30-31fps. At 1080p it was 43fps on a laptop with an RTX 4060 and 38fps on an RTX 3060.
Hogwarts Legacy started with ultra preset and DX12. On average, the frame rate at 1080p was 102 fps (RTX 4060) and 71 fps (RTX 3060), 1440p – 67 and 49 fps, respectively. With DLSS in Balanced mode at 1080p, the figures are 124 fps (4060, DLSS + Frame Rendering), 80 fps (4060, DLSS) and 86 fps (3060, DLSS), at 1440p – 97, 74, 75 k/s, respectively.
Tried Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II with Extreme graphics settings, DX12, Render Resolution 100%, Upscalling Off. At Full HD resolution, the average frame rate in this case was 86 fps with the RTX 4060 and 77 fps with the RTX 3060 – 60 fps and 55 fps, respectively, at 1440p resolution.
With the Extreme preset and DX 12, Forza Horizon 5 ran at 1080p at an average of 91 fps (RTX 4060) and 55 fps (RTX 3060) and 1440p at 76 fps and 48 fps.

Overall at 1080p the RTX 4060 was 16% faster in all 25 games and 11% faster at 1440p compared to the RTX 3060. If you already have a laptop with an RTX 3060, there is no point in upgrading to a model with an RTX 4060 just for the sake of higher performance. The framerate difference between these laptops isn’t that big, and with DLSS it’s even smaller.
