Minnesota legislators in the United States, pass a law prohibiting disclosure deep frauds pornographic. This came in response to the explosion of artificial intelligence (AI)-generated fake sexual videos.

State senator Erin Maye Quade, one of the bill’s proponents, says that about 96% of deepfakes circulating online are pornographic. “Deepfake technology has the power to damage reputation, ruin lives and even threaten the integrity of our democracy,” says Quade.

Minnesota state legislators are passing a bill that excludes fake pornographic videos that are parody, satirical, commentary, or have journalistic or political value based on freedom of expression.

But the Senate completely changed the device, banning deep fake porn. Now the Minnesota House of Representatives has to re-vote the bill before sending it to the governor for approval. The expectation is that everything will happen by the end of May.

election threat

Deepfakes have been hailed as the newest threat to democracy in the United States.. The dangerous tool could be used to influence voters in the weeks leading up to elections, and that’s why state lawmakers are trying to regulate artificial intelligence technologies.

California and Texas have already made it illegal to post fake videos featuring politicians in the weeks leading up to the election. California law prohibits residents and corporations from posting deep fake videos of political candidates in the two months before the election.

In Texas, deep fake videos created “with the aim of harming a candidate or influencing the outcome of an election” and “published and distributed within 30 days of an election” can carry fines of $4,000 and up to one year in prison.
