Meta announced this Thursday (1) Quest 3, virtual reality (VR) headset. The product will be released in September this year around R$2,500 with prices starting at $499.99 at the time of Meta Connect.

The headset promises higher resolution, better performance, innovative Meta Reality technology and is 40% thinner and more comfortable. Meta Quest 3 starts at 128GB and has a storage expansion option.

VR headset relies on Snapdragon chipset to deliver more than double the graphics performance of Quest 2. Thus, immersive games promise sharper details and smoother transitions.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg underlined on his official Instagram account that this is the company’s “most powerful headset ever”. “Quest 3 will be the best way to experience virtual and mixed reality on a standalone device. It will be compatible with the entire Quest 2 library, with more games.”

Other details listed by Meta in the announcement are “high-fidelity color rendering, innovative machine learning and spatial understanding.” The device featured Touch Plus controllers, which were redesigned to be more ergonomic and provide a better tactile feel.

The date set for the official launch of Meta Quest 3 is ahead of Apple’s event, which is expected to announce its own mixed reality headset.. However, this Thursday, Mark Zucklerberg’s company will be showing updates on the Quest Platform at 2 PM (Brasília time) on the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase.
