Qualcomm this Friday (20) announced the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 platform for mobile devices. The technology comes with a new generation Hexagon processor with up to 30% higher artificial intelligence performance than Snapdragon 778G 5G.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 will come embedded in devices of brands such as Honor, Oppo and Xiaomi. According to Qualcomm, the first phones will hit the market in Q2 of 2022.
The platform supports resolutions up to 200 MP, can capture images from 3 cameras simultaneously (with Qualcomm Spectra triple ISP), creates wide angle to macro images and supports 4K HDR+.
On the GPU front, Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 has an improved Adreno that renders over 20% faster (compared to Snapdragon 778G 5G) and offers ultra-low latency HDR gaming. As for the CPU, it is a Kryo with 64-bit architecture and up to 2.4 GHz.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 offers features for gaming devices like Elite Gaming, such as Adreno Frame Motion (doubles frame rates to improve content and conserve power consumption) and Game Quick Touch (reduces touch lag).
In addition, the platform has a special user protection mechanism: Trust Management Engine and Android Ready SE, a first in the Snapdragon 7 series.
