While Pixel 7a stands out with its faster processor, wireless charging feature and more powerful camera, Pixel 6a is more budget friendly. Design-wise, both phones have a plastic body and aluminum frame, but the Pixel 7a has a more “sophisticated” look.
The display is another area of difference, as the Pixel 7a offers a 90Hz refresh rate compared to the Pixel 6a’s 60Hz refresh rate. This higher refresh rate brings smoother scrolling and gaming to Pixel 7a. Under the hood, the Pixel 7a has a faster Google Tensor G2 processor and 8GB of RAM, while the Pixel 6a has the original Google Tensor processor and 6GB of RAM.
Both phones have ample storage with 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage, but storage expansion via microSD cards is not supported. The Pixel 7a’s camera outperforms the Pixel 6a’s 64MP main and 13MP ultra-wide-angle cameras, with improved color accuracy and low-light performance.
In terms of software, both devices run Google’s Pixel UI, and the Pixel 7a gets longer OS updates and security patches (just because it’s newer).
Pixel 7a costs $499 and Pixel 6a can be purchased for around $300-350.
So if the above differences don’t scare you, you can safely get the Pixel 6a, the device is still good.
