According to Reuters, we are talking about complex chips used in programs based on artificial intelligence technologies and graphics processors.
After receiving a letter from the Ministry of Commerce, TSMC representatives, according to the agency, notified some customers that the supply of the mentioned products to China would cease from November 11, 2024.
It is clarified that US authorities notified TSMC of export control violations several weeks after one of the Taiwanese company’s chips was discovered in a Huawei AI processor.
In October, TSMC suspended shipments to Chinese chipmaker Sophgo after its chip matched one found in a Huawei AI processor.
