Personally, the UK sanctioned members of the boards of Russian Railways, Sovcomflot and Transneft. Among them are officials, for example, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov, as well as First Deputy Minister of Energy Pavel Sorokin and Deputy Minister of Finance Alexei Moiseev. Of the independents, Gennady Shmal, Valery Shantsev and others were included in the list. The restrictions also affected businessman Igor Altushkin and some top managers of Gazprom Neft.

The new restrictive measures are designed to increase economic pressure on Russia. As stated in the document, the frozen assets can only be released if “Russia agrees to compensate the damage caused to Ukraine.”

Earlier, the EU already activated the tenth package of anti-Russian sanctions related to the armed conflict on the territory of Ukraine. In February, Tinkoff, Alfa-Bank, Rosbank and the National Wealth Fund fell under EU blocking sanctions.
