In January-March 2023, AlfaStrakhovanie analysts recorded more than 4,000 flights delayed by airlines for at least one hour. Sheremetyevo, Pulkovo and Sochi became the leaders in delaying departures by more than 60 minutes, according to a study by the insurer.
Also in the top five were the Novosibirsk airport “Tolmachevo” and Moscow “Domodedovo”. The number of flights delayed in them ranged from 12 to 6% of the total number of all flights delayed by more than one hour.
The record breaking duration of flight delays (more than 20 hours) in the first quarter was set by the airports Norilsk Alykel (27% of delays), Sochi (18%) and Domodedovo (16%).
According to AlfaStrakhovanie statistics, in 2022, of all cases reported under voluntary insurance policies for air passengers, about 80% were flight delays.
Earlier it was reported that companies from China, India and Belarus were included in the list of leaders in the growth of transit flights through Russian airspace. Russian airspace is the most used by Chinese companies, which carry out 60 flights a day.
